Welcome...

My name is Justin Davis and I’m currently a Masters Student in the Graduate Program in Neuroscience at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver Canada. I have a broad range of interest in all things Neuroscience with particular interest in the cellular mechanisms of Learning and Memory and Nervous system development.

I’m an avid Hockey player and work as a hockey instructor at the UBC hockey school. When I’m not busy playing hockey or working on my thesis I spend the most of my time enjoying life in Vancouver. I have a great bunch of friends in the city with which I explore the city’s various attractions and frequent the local establishments.

I’m in the process of finishing my thesis investigating the effects of ethanol on nervous system development. I also sit as a member of the Organizing Committee of the Nematode Regional Research Review- monthly research colloquia bringing together the various C. elegans researchers within the Lower Mainland.

I value having a well-rounded academic background. I hold an Undergraduate degree in Cellular Biology and have spent time working in aquatic ecosystem research. I have also worked in private industry as an agricultural research technician and consultant. This broad range of experience has sparked an interest in how both publicly funded basic research and privately funded applied science affect society as whole. As I finish my Masters in Neuroscience, I’m beginning to realize how important a role the intersection between Science and Public Policy will play in shaping our society in the 21st Century.
